Aborigine Art - 27 Nov - Maxwell Studio

!

We love aborigine art.  They just seem so truthful somehow.  So simple, saying what they need to say with minimal embellishment.  Just dots and dashes.

We teach your child about the Aborigine people of various cultures.  The concept of indigenous people and rights over the land.  The concept of human migration.

We choose Australia Aborigine Art for the art lesson.  Come have fun!

Asian Batik (Paper-Based Work)- 18 Nov - Maxwell Studio

!
asian art

Asians often forget how breathtakingly beautiful Batik is.  It was prized by Kings.  Great batikmakers were craftsmen and artists.  A good batik can have multiple processes, one at a time, requiring planning and great patience.

Kinderart simplifies the process.  Your child learns the elements of batik-making in this workshop!  The colours are guaranteed to stun you visually.

Magical Mask Making - 2 Dec - Maxwell Studio

!
Masks, Masks, Masks!

Masks are deeply intertwined in all cultures.  From Red Indians Warpainted faces, Japanese Kabuki faces, African ceremonial masks, Chinese Opera and masks for masquerade balls.  We either love them or hate them.  Spiderman, Ironman, Batman ... all wear them.  Superman is the only superhero who wears a mask as Clark Kent (his glasses and personality!)

We discuss masks and their roles in human culture. We make 3 masks in a full-day workshop.

  • Smiling Susy/ Milkmaid Mandy / GI Joe
  • Red Indian / African Joy Mask
  • Chinese Opera / Starwars 'The Apprentice'

Chinese Lanterns

!

Chinese lantern making is an artform.  Starting with the frame and ending with beautiful papers, and precision paper-cuts.

Instead of buying a lantern this year for Mid-Autumn, make one to be remembered.

Flower Power - Tie- Dyes

!

The 60s were the days of hippies and freedom.  We discuss this era of change with your children.  (No discussion on unsuitable topics from that era.)

Tie-Dye tee-shirts were the rage.  Your child brings home a tie-dye tee to be proud of.
