Cezanne's Still Life - Kinderartist Carman
Great Artists
The best way to learn is to be an apprentice to a Great Master.

Let your child go through 100 artists from K2 to P6 over the holidays.  Choose 30 to work on - 5 a year.
These workshops helps him/her to build a portfolio of works and learn the philosophies and styles of great artists, past and present.  The portfolio is critical for anyone, even children, to follow a path in the arts.

Watch this space for the rest of the 100 artists to be uploaded by 2009.

Claude Monet - 15 Dec - Maxwell Studio

The Father of Impressionism

Monet's work the Sunrise was rejected by the Salon.  'The Sunrise' started an art movement known as Impressionism.  Impressionists paint to capture their impression of a scene rather than the realistic capture of details.  They capture light and the changes light brings to any scene.  Famous impressionist artists include Renoir and Cassat.  Van Gogh was a post-impressionist artist with his own movement.

We teach children the techniques of Monet and how to reproduce some of his easier works.  The philosophy of Impressionism is emphasised, albeit in a studio setting.

HunterWasser - 19 Nov - Maxwell Studio

Hundertwasser (1928 - 2000), Austrian artist, architect and ecological thinker.

In his paintings, as in his cooking, Hundertwasser puts together simple repeated elements to create something varied, surprising and sustaining. In his artwork and architecture he creates spaces where you feel you're being treated as human, rather than as a consuming machine. A place where you can feel a connection with nature, where your imagination isn't be crushed. http://www.wildyorkshire.co.uk/naturediary/docs/2005/5/13.html
